LARGE NUMBER OF SMALL EARTHQUAKES AROUND PUERTO RICO - PART 1

The Caribbean Antilles region is not known for having many earthquakes, the Caribbean is a sign of relaxation and beauty, for its beaches and sea breeze. We are forgetting that the entire system of islands , especially of the Lesser Antilles are currently in seismic activity and that is precisely its genesis volcanism .

The last major event was the Haiti magnitude 7, which occurred on January 12, 2010 , with an epicenter near Port au Prince. Shortly transcended that in this earthquake 316,000 people died , 350,000 were injured and more than 1.5 million people lost their homes.

The movement of tectonic plates is a mechanism that in certain areas consume the earth but in other parts rise a new land in an eternal and slow cycle, which is an automatic recycling system that has our planet.

Unfortunately this mechanism which is useful for the planet , sometimes leaves us dark balances for the population, due to lack of preparation, there is another cyclic and wonderful mechanism , the rain, but to protect us from it, we have developed methods such as ceilings , umbrellas etc.

In recent days, There are alot of earthquakes around Puerto Rico (Ms. arround 3 grades) , just today there have been 42.
According to my observations do not follow a specific pattern to consider premonitory, their behavior is more like a process of volcanic activity, This means that there are many small earthquakes in a disorderly manner , without directionality.

To determine the possibility of occurrence of an earthquake always have to look at the history, the region had, for example ; in 1787 an earthquake of Ms.8.1 ; in 1867 one of M.s.7.5 ; in 1918 one of Ms.7.5 ; in 1946 an earthquake of M. S. 7.5 and other Ms 8.1 , if we look closely, we see something like a recurrence of about 50 years, defining one or two earthquakes near Ms.8 every 50 years.
