75% of insects have disappeared in Germany in the last 27 years.

German scientists have published the result of an investigation, in which for 27 years they have been measuring the amount of insects that fall into traps. The traps were located in 96 protected places throughout Germany.

As a result and as a matter of urgency these scientists have indicated that the level of reduction in the insect population in Germany is alarming, the insect population has been reduced by 75%, in recent years. this means that the rate of biomass loss corresponds to 6% per year, which would mean that in a few years many of these insect species would become extinct.

We must remember that insects are the best farmers because they participate in the pollination process, they are also the main source of food for a large number of birds and also control certain species that can become pests.

It is very important to take actions not to allow these species to be completely lost, the disappearance of the insects could lead to the disappearance of the birds and could also slow down agriculture, affecting the human race.

In Figure A, we can observe how the biomass, measured in grams per day, of the weight of insects trapped in the networks located in protected areas. As seen in the figure, in 1990 the traps collected 10 grams per day of insects, currently, having the traps in the same places, only 1.8 grams per day are trapped.

In figure B, we see in blue the points corresponding to the amount of grams per day of biomass collected in 1989, compared to the yellow points that is the same reading but in 2016.

It is observed that in the summer season where the insect population increases, trapped biomass, in 1989, reached 25 grams per day, while in the same measure in 2016, it only reaches 0.5 grams per day.

If the trend continues at the end the humanity will be affected without knowing the possible consequences that we will suffer.

Through this blog, all of us, we must continue creating a critical mass of individuals with which we can generate a change. If we grow in harmony with nature, the future will be uncertain, but it is not too late, let's continue.
